Important Reminder

Because there is a game on Thursday, the trade deadline for this week, and for the season, will be NOON on Thursday, November 12th. Let me know if there are any questions.

Championship League Power Rankings - Week 6

Good afternoon folks, hope you're all enjoying the weekend - I'm watching a little football while putting together an updated Power Rankings for everyone. Without further ado...

Power Rankings - Week 6

1. Crazy Flying Monkeys (5-1, 1) - Nothing has changed at the top of the standings in the last 3 weeks. Erin lost for the first time last week, but she's still in first almost halfway through the fantasy football regular season.

2. BuckNastyLlamas (5-1, 2) - Berb was 2nd at this time last year, and he remains in 2nd 6 weeks in. Big win for him last week beating Erin - now he has to keep the momentum going.

3. Novices (4-2, 5) - Jim has moved up the rankings a bit, and is the only team with a 4-2 record. The entire league is close though, so he'll need to continue to add wins if he wants a spot in the playoffs.

4. The Brunells (3-3, 3) - Scott has continue to hang around the playoff picture, even across the Atlantic. Go Sevilla.

5. girls gone wildcat (3-3, 4) - Cameron has slipped a little bit, but is only points away from the playoffs. Anything can happen in this league.

6. Lunatic Lunchables (2-4, 10) - A few big weeks from Jen and she's right back knocking on the door of the playoffs.

7. skinsrule (2-4, 9) - Aaron is one of the new teams this season, and though he had a rough start, he's improved over the last few weeks, and could still have a playoff run in him.

8. Screamin' Weasels (2-4, 6) - Every team left is 2-4, and ergo, one game from the playoffs. I think I should get credit for using ergo in a sentence, and I think I even used it correctly.

9. Off Constantly (2-4, 7) - Things don't look good for Ryan right now, but if he can string some wins together, he can get right back into it.

10. What's in a name? (2-4, 8) - Our other new team, Ryan B is still getting the hang of things. He needs a few big weeks in order to start making some noise.

Premier League Power Rankings - Week 6

Welcome back to the Power Rankings boys and girls - after this weekend, the season will be half over. Crazy how fast time flies. Let's get to it...

Power Rankings - Week 6

1. theTOshow (6-0, 3) - The only undefeated team remaining, Jamie has been very consistent throughout. Looking very strong for the playoffs right now.

2. The New Yorker (5-1, 2) - Apart from the first week, Alan has been nearly flawless. He's a bit thin at RB, but his WRs have been hitting on all cylinders all season long.

3. TalentedMr.Gnomo (4-2, 1) - Slipped a bit since the last power rankings were available, but still going strong. Only 3 teams have winning records in this league right now.

4. The Blaugrana (3-3, 9) - J Mo is back in a big way - one monster week moved him way up the standings - from relegation to the playoffs in one week. Goes to show just how close this league is right now.

5. Ruining Football (3-3, 6) - After losing my first two games badly, I'm slowly working my way back into the playoff picture.

6. Hello Kitty! (2-4, 4) - A bit unlucky so far this season, Chris has the 4th highest point total, but has a losing record. He's just one game out of the playoffs though, so it won't take much for him to jump up the standings.

7. All Day Long (2-4, 5) - Kellan is also hanging around the playoff picture - a lot of teams at this point are a game from the playoffs, and a game from the relegation zone.

8. Creative Name (2-4, 8) - Shaun is one of two teams that has not moved since Week 3 - still hovering just above the relegation zone. Big game for him this week against Eric.

9. ERock (2-4, 7) - Eric could really use a win or two in the next few weeks - he doesn't want to be down near the bottom when the stretch run starts.

10. Relegation Station (1-5, 10) - Chad is the other team that hasn't moved in the standings. He's a game behind everyone else and has far and away the fewest total points. He'll need to make up ground either with wins or big weeks, and could use a jumpstart sooner rather than later.

Apologies

I have been hammered with grad school work, but fear not, because the Power Rankings will be back this week. It may not be until Friday or Saturday, but I promise the Power Rankings will be ready for reading. Feel free to test FIFA10 until then.

Week 5 Preview

Good Evening Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that there will not be a Week 5 preview column this week. I'm in West Virgina for my 10-year high school reunion, and therefore do not have the time to get the column done this week.

My apologies - I'll try to make up for it with a top-notch column next week.

Week 4 Preview

Week 4 Premier League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
Kiss. The. Baby. vs. All Day Long
This might be the most intriguing match of the week, and I really don’t know what to expect from either team. I think that the difference could come down to the Flex position, and I like Chris Johnson more than Larry Johnson – Kiss. The. Baby. by 2.

theTOshow vs. The Blaugrana
Jay Cutler against Detroit and Bradshaw against KC are nice match ups, but I don’t think that Jon has enough to take out Jamie this week. Rodgers, Wayne, and Willis McGahee will lead theTOshow to victory. Yes, I’m just as surprised as you are that Willis McGahee appeared in that sentence. theTOshow by 8.

The New Yorker vs. Creative Name
Can anybody say mismatch? This is basically Tom Brady, MJD, and John Carlson (yes, that John Carlson) against a solid team. Alan is working hard to prove that you can win with superior receivers and sub-par running backs – and so far he’s right. The New Yorker by 15.

TalentedMr.Gnomo vs. Ruining Football
What intrigues me most in this one? Kevin Walter vs. Joseph Addai - because Jeffrey and I swapped those players this week, and now they’re both in the starting line-up. With Boldin out for the bye and Walter gone I’m depending on Houshmandzadeh, Harvin, and Garcon this week (yikes!). Jeffs RBs all have tasty match ups and his team just looks better than mine does his week. Ruining Football by 10 (but I really hope that I’m wrong).

Pillow Fight of the Week
ERock vs. Relegation Station
The loser of this one is in serious early season trouble – but the good news is that 7 of the 10 teams in the league are sitting at 1-2 so there’s still some hope. I like Schaub and Jennings for Chad (and maybe LDT), and I like Rivers, Coffee, and Thomas for Eric. This looks close, and I’d like to say that they’ll tie. Since that is highly unlikely, I’ll go with Eric by 1.

Last Week: 4-1 (Season: 10-5)

Week 4 Championship League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
BuckNastyLlamas vs. The Brunells
Berb has injury questions with Barber, Portis, and Smith, so it looks like he’s going with Fred Jackson, Jerome Harrison, and Mewelde Moore. I like Jackson, but the others make me cringe a bit. I think that Scott will get enough out of Schaub, Walter, and Chris Johnson to knock off one of the two unbeaten teams. Brunells by 7.

Crazy Flying Monkeys vs. Screamin’ Weasels
Josh must despise TO more than most people. First he caused turmoil in Dallas, and now he’s causing turmoil with the Weasels by not being dependable. I like Erin’s WR corps a lot this week, but I think that Rivers, MJD, and Julius Jones could keep it respectable. Monkeys by 4.

Novices vs. girls gone wildcat
Willis McGahee is making Cameron proud, but will it continue this week? Maybe. It doesn’t hurt that he’s rolling out Drew Brees and the only running back that SF has left – Glen Coffee. Matt Ryan, DeSean Jackson, and Michael Turner on the bye make it tough for Mr. Hill this week. Cameron by 8.

skinsrule vs. Off Constantly
I’m assuming that Ryan will wake up this morning and replace Steve Smith (Carolina version) with Steve Smith (New York version), but I’m not sure that it will help. Peterson, Jacobs, and Cedric Benson are all great plays this week and they’ll carry Aaron to victory. skinsrule by 9.

Pillow Fight of the Week
Lunatic Lunchables vs.What’s in a Name?
I’m calling this the Jim Haslett bowl. After his team’s 47-3 loss to the Jets last year, Haslett said, “To me, it’s just bad football.” I think that sums this one up. Currently Jen is starting two guys on the bye and has a 9 point advantage according to Yahoo. I’m not joking. I really don’t know what to think, but with Kevin Smith and Pierre Thomas on her team I think that Jen has the advantage. Lunchables by 15.

Last Week: 2-3 (Season: 7-8)

Championship League Power Rankings - Week 3

Power Rankings - Week 3

1. Crazy Flying Monkeys (3-0, 2) - Erin wins the matchup of the week in a convincing fashion. Consistency across the board this past week with double digits out of nearly everyone on her team.

2. BuckNastyLlamas (3-0, 3) - The only other unbeaten team, Berb has another tough matchup this week in Scott. Jason Campbell and Derrick Mason of all people helped propel Berb to victory in Week 3.

3. The Brunells (2-1, 3) - Scott actually has the 2nd highest point total so far this season, making this week's matchup against Berb even more intriguing. No Warner to Fitz combo this week, thanks to bye weeks.

4. girls gone wildcat (2-1, 1) - Cam lost Gore, and got his butt handed to him by a woman. Both are valid reasons for being dropped from 1st to 4th in the power rankings.

5. Novices (2-1, 5) - Well DeSean Jackson put in quite a shift for the Novices last week, putting up over 20 points - even without LDT healthy last week, it was enough to help him to victory.

6. Screamin' Weasels (1-2, 9) - Welcome back to the league Josh - he rode MJD to the tune of 32 points, which helped him put up the top point total of the week, and move him up to the middle of the table.

7. Off Constantly (1-2, 7) - Ryan lost a tough match to Scotty, although he didn't move up or down the Power Rankings. He gets Marshawn Lynch back after suspension, so he may be on his way up.

8. What's in a Name? (1-2, 8) - After his fantastic first week, this Ryan hasn't fared so well. He'll hope to ride a few hot streaks from some new members of his team to victory in Week 4.

9. skinsrule (0-3, 6) - He's got a higher point total than his spot in the standings would suggest, but he needs to start putting some wins together if he wants to challenge for a playoff spot.

10. Lunatic Lunchables (0-3, 10) - This week is looking tough for Jen - Westbrook, DeAngelo Williams, and Roddy White are all on the bye. Interesting fact: none of the new teams in our league are doing that well. The Novices are 5th, then the other 3 new teams are 8th, 9th, and 10th.

Good luck this week, and we'll see you after the weekend for the next batch of Power Rankings.

Premier League Power Rankings - Week 3

Afternoon boys and girls - welcome to the latest installment of the power rankings.

Power Rankings - Week 3

1. TalentedMr.Gnomo (3-0, 1) - He just keeps winning, even without getting anything from Gore. Now with Boldin on bye and Gore out for a few weeks, he'll have to dig a little deeper to keep getting wins.

2. The New Yorker (2-1, 5) - Winner of the Toyota Biggest Fantasy Blowout last week, Alan has been very solid every week.

3. theTOshow (3-0, 3) - Beat Chris in a tough matchup this week, but the win is the only thing that matters in the standings. Has some injury issues with Barber and FWP, so we'll see how he gets through the next few weeks.

4. Kiss. The. Baby. (1-2, 2) - Chris loses a heartbreaker, but he's still far and away the highest point total so far. Chris is two games back though, so regardless of his point total he's got some ground to make up.

5. All Day Long (1-2, 4) - Kellan has more moves than the rest of the teams combined so far, but it hasn't helped him the last two weeks. Luckily he has ADP on Monday Night Football in what will probably be the highest rated cable event ever, so I'm sure he'll come ready to play.

6. Ruining Football (1-2, 10) - Spots 6-10 are a big pack, but I've got the points lead of the rest, so I get the bump for now. A big week last week - now I just need my team to continue to put it together against the top team in the league.

7. ERock (1-2, 9) - The only other team left who got a win this past week, Eric beat up on J Mo, who started Wes Welker and Brian Westbrook, neither of whom played. Eric left a lot on the bench, so he's got some options going forward.

8. Creative Name (1-2, 6) - Shaun lost this week, he's right in the thick of the early relegation battle. He's only a few points from 7th, but only a point from 9th. We're only a quarter of the way through the season, so there's plenty of time to get back on track.

9. The Blaugrana (1-2, 7) - J Mo is hurting a bit, and is one of the only teams not to crack 100 points in any week this season. Welker could be back this week, and Westbrook will probably be questionable until he retires. Matched up against Jamie this week, I can't say I like his chances.

10. Relegation Station (1-2, 8) - Chad followed up his 59 point week with 63 in Week 3. He appropriately changed his team name this week, and could really use LDT to come back ASAP.

That's it folks - good luck this weekend.

Week 3 Preview

Week 3 Premier League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
theTOshow vs. Kiss. The. Baby
Numbers two and three in the standings face off this week, and the winner could end up at the top of the table on Tuesday morning. I think that the difference could come down to what Christopher gets out of DeSean Jackson. Will Philly sit him if they get up on KC early to let the groin heal? It must also be frustrating to be starting a QB and WR who are facing your Defense. I think that Jamie finds a way to win again this week – theTOshow by 5

The New Yorker vs. All Day Long
This might be the closest pairing of the week. I love all of Alan’s receivers this week, but Kellan has Megatron against Washington and ADP on his roster. I think that Alan finds a way to squeak one out. The New Yorker by 1

ERock vs. The Blaugrana
Eric and Jonathan must both be a little nervous this week. J-Mo has to be a little worried that Welker might sit out again, and that Portis and Westbrook are already banged up after week 2. Eric will be hoping that Pierre Thomas gets a bunch of work against his Bills and that Bowe is able to play against Philly. I think Sproles and Baltimore’s D will do enough to carry Jonathan. Blaugrana by 4.

TalentedMr.Gnomo vs. ObamanationWOOT
Chad is coming off of a huge disappointment last week, and I think that his team will be much better this week. He’ll still be without LDT and Jamal Lewis is iffy, but Romo, Jennings and TO have nice match ups. I’m hoping that Slaton gets going this week and that I keep getting consistent production out of Brees and my other RBs. I think that Chad could make it interesting, but that I’ll take home another win. TMG by 3.

Pillow Fight of the Week
Ruining Football vs. Creative Name
I feel bad about putting Shaun in the Pillow Fight since his birthday is this weekend, but this game features two teams in the bottom four. A quick look at the waiver wire shows that Shaun felt that his team needed a little shuffling after two weeks. I have to believe that Forte and Jacobs have nice weeks for Jeffrey and I just don’t trust Shaun’s receivers to give him enough. Jeff ruins football and wins by 3.

Last week: 3-2 (Season 6-4)

Week 3 Championship League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
Crazy Flying Monkeys vs. girls gone wildcat
The clear cut game of the week is 1 vs. 2 because the winner likely stays at the top of the league. Cameron has been getting amazing production from McGahee and I think that will continue this week. Brees and Gates should have nice weeks too. Erin’s team is solid, Vincent Jackson is playing out of his mind right now and Greg Jennings has a fantastic match up. This one could be very close – Cameron by 1.

The Brunells vs. Off Constantly
This game looks closer to me than what Yahoo is projecting. Ryan’s WR corps should put up nice numbers this week, and I think Slaton finally gets something going against Jacksonville. Dallas Clark and Chris Johnson were gigantic for Scott last week, and things would have been even nicer had he used Matt Schaub. I think that the numbers drop off this week, and that Ryan finds a way to win. Off Constantly by 3.

BuckNastyLlamas vs. What’s in a name?
I honestly think that Andre Johnson might outscore all 3 of Ryan’s receivers combined this week. Fred Jackson and Kevin Smith should also pitch in enough for Berb to get a big win. Llamas by 15.

Lunatic Lunchables vs. Novices
Mr. Hill decided to shake up his team this week, but landed two players with injury concerns. LDT is out for another week and DeSean Jackson is questionable. Jen is hoping that Matt Forte finally gets it together and that Pierre Thomas turns into Mike Bell from weeks 1 and 2. Forte and Flacco do enough for Jen this week. Lunchables by 5.

Pillow Fight of the Week
skinsrule vs. Screamin’ Weasels
The loser stays in the bottom two. Aaron needs Peterson to have a huge day, and he’s hoping that Brandon Marshall is sane enough to torch the Raiders. For Josh, I really like Rivers, TO, Boldin, and MJD this week. Weasels by 7.

Last Week: 3-2 (Season: 5-5)

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Championship League Power Rankings - Week 2

Good evening everyone, and welcome to round 2 of the Championship version of the Power Rankings.

Power Rankings - Week 2

1. girls gone wildcat (2-0, 1) - Just win baby. Top scorer two weeks running, and Frank Gore, Drew Brees, and Willis McGahee are making Cameron look very strong early on.

2. Crazy Flying Monkeys (2-0, 3) - Erin overcame no shows by Greg Jennings and Kevin Boss with big days by Peyton, Vincent Jackson, and Ronnie Brown.

3. The Brunells (1-1, 9) - I wanted to put Berb in this spot, but I have to give an artificial bump to any team that puts up over 160 points. Seems like everyone who owns Chris Johnson won this week. Except me, not that I'm bitter or anything.

4. BuckNastyLlamas (2-0, 5) - Berb may have squeaked by in Week 1, but he won a relatively comfortable matchup against the Novices this week. Now we'll have to wait and see on Marion Barber's status for the weekend.

5. Novices (1-1, 2) - Jim has been consistent in his point totals, although he didn't get quite enough points to pull out the win in Week 2. He decided to shake up his lineup a bit by picking up LDT and DeSean Jackson. We'll see in future weeks if it was a smart choice.

6. skinsrule (0-2, 6) - Aaron got a bad break last week, but I can't say he deserved a win in Week 2. He maintains his spot thanks to his huge week 1, but he'll have to start winning games if he wants to stay out of the basement.

7. Off Constantly (1-1, 7) - Ryan got back on track, even if he put up the 3rd lowest point total of the week. A win counts all the same, so Ryan will take it and move on.

8. What's in a name? (1-1, 4) - This Ryan didn't fare as well in Ryan vs. Ryan, but the good news is that he can expect to go up from here. Tony Gonzalez and McFadden are the only ones to get double digit points for him in Week 2.

9. Screamin' Weasels (0-2, 10) - Josh would've beaten a lot of teams this week, so there's hope to be had. His WRs looked good, and there's still room for improvement with Anquan Boldin rounding into form after his hamstring injury.

10. Lunatic Lunchables (0-2, 8) - Jen had a tough go of it, with her defense being her high scorer of the week. I still expect Forte to get it together soon, as he's had a brutal schedule in the first two weeks.

Good luck in Week 3 - after this week the season will be more than 20% over - the season is flying by already.

Premier League Power Rankings - Week 2

Evening folks, and welcome to the day late version of the Premier League Power Rankings. Dinner is calling, so let's get right to it...

Power Rankings - Week 2

1. TalentedMr.Gnomo (2-0, 2) - Clear cut leader at this point, he's put up two convincing wins in back to back weeks. This week he has the so-far-inconsistent Chad.

2. Kiss. The. Baby. (1-1, 10) - Biggest mover in Premier League history with a whopping 171 points last week. He actually has the points lead, and if he had put up even a respectable total in Week 1, he'd be heads and shoulders over everyone else.

3. theTOshow (2-0, 4) - He won the head to head matchup with Kellan, so he gets the nod for 3rd place this week. Remember how I was touting Reggie Wayne? Not sure where he was on MNF - I could've used a few points out of him in another league.

4. All Day Long (1-1, 1) - Kellan has proved he's not scared of riding the short term fix, with Mike Bell and Tashard Choice on his roster. We'll see how he fares in the long run.

5. The New Yorker (1-1, 6) - Had a bad beat in Week 1, and a convincing win in Week 2. Alan and his WRs could be here to stay.

6. Creative Name (1-1, 7) - Shaun lucked out by playing the only team he would've beaten, but a win is a win and they all count the same.

7. The Blaugrana (1-1, 5) - Got smoked this past week, but still outscored Chad, so he gets the nod at 7. Jon could use some points to start moving up the rankings.

8. ObamanationWOOT (1-1, 3) - Chad is the big slider this week, after putting up a historically low 59 points. The good news is we know his team is capable of better - now they just need to put some good performances together.

9. ERock (0-2, 8) - Eric has not been particularly strong the past two weeks, but he has gotten nothing out of Pierre Thomas so far, so there's still hope.

10. Ruining Football (0-2, 9) - The fact that Cedric Benson is my most consistent player so far is so maddening that I'd rather not elaborate.

That's it for the Premier League - I have high hopes I'll be able to get the Championship League done tonight as well, but my stomach is getting angry, so it's time for dinner. Good luck this week everyone.

Week 2 Preview

I apologize for this being posted so late this week. Work has been pretty busy, and yesterday was super-busy. Enjoy

Week 2 Premier League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
All Day Long vs. theTOshow
Two teams in the top four facing off in week 2 is the automatic Game of the Week selection. How can I pick against Peterson again? Kellan rides ADP’s back to another victory. ADL by 3

ObamanationWOOT vs. Creative Name
Shaun’s WR options are bleak because of injuries, and I just don’t think that his RBs and Tom Brady will do enough to get past Chad. Obamanation WOOT by 5

ERock vs. Child Plz
This looks like a close game to me. I think that Rivers will have a hard time with Baltimore’s D, and I’m still not sure what to think about Brandon Marshall. The only major mismatch in the lineups is in the flex spot, where Eric is starting Lance Moore and Christopher is starting Chris Johnson. I’ll take Child Plz by 7

TalentedMr.Gnomo vs. The Blaugrana
The only other game that features two 1-0 teams could come down to Roy E. Williams vs. Jason Witten tonight in Dallas. I think this will be close, and that Witten does enough to pull this one out for me. TMG by 1

Pillow Fight of the Week
Ruining Football vs. The New Yorker
Somebody will be 0-2 and likely in the relegation zone after this one. I really like Manning to be the difference in this game on Monday night. Alan by 5

Last week 3-2

Week 2 Championship League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
BuckNastyLlamas vs. Novices
Mr. Hill’s receivers are just too strong, and give him an advantage every week. I think Andre Johnson and Fred Jackson keep it close, but I have to go with the Novices by 2.

Lunatic Lunchables vs. girls gone wildcat
Both of these teams should put up nice point totals this week. Jen’s RBs are scary good, but Forte has a tough task with Pittsburgh’s D. I’m not buying McGahee, but I think that Brees could have another big game for Cameron. This one is a coin flip, so I’m going with the team that has the best player – Cam has Brees, GGW by 7

Crazy Flying Monkeys vs. skins rule
I really like Erin’s team this week. I could see Manning, Jennings, and Steven Jackson all having big games. Can Peterson put up another HUGE number and get Aaron in the win column? Absolutely. I think Erin has enough to pull out a win. Monkeys by 1

What’s in a Name? vs. Off Constantly
Ryan vs. Ryan. Hossick dominates in the WR match ups this week, and I actually like his RBs a little better too. Can Tom Brady keep it close? Not likely. I like Hossick big – Off Constantly by 15.

Pillow Fight of the Week
The Brunells vs. Screamin’ Weasels
Yahoo thinks that this one will be close, and so do I. Loser lands in the relegation zone, so it’s a big early season game. I think that Rivers and Jones-Drew carry Josh’s squad in a tight game. Weasels by 3

Last Week 2-3

Championship League Power Rankings - Week 1

Good afternoon everyone, welcome to the first installment of the Power Rankings for the Championship League. Let's get right to it.

Power Rankings - Week 1

1. girls gone wildcat (1-0, NR) - As expected, the team with Drew Brees is hanging out at the top of the standings. Throw in Reggie Wayne and Santonio Holmes, and you have to feel bad for Aaron.

2. Novices (1-0, NR) - Jim started strong in his attempt to claw his way back into the Premier League, riding Philadelphia's D to victory in week one. Philly won't play Jake Delhomme every week, so he'll need someone else to step up next week.

3. Crazy Flying Monkeys (1-0, NR) - Erin's team may have been the most balanced - she got double digits out of 6 of her starters, and while no one broke 20, the consistency of her team got her an easy win over Scott.

4. What's in a name? (1-0, NR) - Ryan is off to a great start after big games by Brady and Crayton. Brady looked stronger as the game went on, and could be on his way to another big season.

5. BuckNastyLlamas (1-0, NR) - Matt may have had the lowest point total of any winning team this week, but he'll take it every time. Matt may have snagged a deep sleeper in John Carlson, who was Berb's biggest scorer this week.

6. skinsrule (0-1, NR) - Aaron takes the term biggest loser to a whole other level. He would've beat any team that wasn't Cameron last week, scoring the 2nd highest point total. It's unfortunate that he didn't get the win, but he'll take solace in the fact that his team is off to a strong start.

7. Off Constantly (0-1, NR) - Ryan put up a respectable total, but it wasn't enough to beat the Novices. Getting nothing out of Steves Smith and Slaton has to have him feeling pretty good about his team going forward.

8. Lunatic Lunchables (0-1, NR) - This team looked a lot better on paper than it does in the standings. Jen should get things going this week, but she's up against top scorer Cameron in Week 2. Should be quite the interesting matchup.

9. The Brunells (0-1, NR) - Scott had two WRs play but not score any points in Bernard Berrian and Anthony Gonzalez. Missing Gonzo will hurt for a few weeks, but Berrian should bounce back in Week 2.

10. Screamin' Weasels (0-1, NR) - Bad news: MJD and Philip Rivers were the only double digit scorers in Josh's starting lineup. Good news: Julius Jones and Hasselbeck really looked good while sitting on the bench. Hopefully Josh will be able to get things going this week.

That's it for now everyone - good luck this weekend.

Premier League Power Rankings - Week 1

Good evening everyone, welcome to the inaugural Power Rankings. Over the course of the season, we'll see how each team is doing. Rankings are based on current and past performance, as well as expected future performance. Injuries, suspensions, etc. all factor into the Power Rankings.

Week 1 is always pretty vanilla - I won't argue with the Yahoo standings until at least Week 2. So without further ado:

Power Rankings - Week 1

1. All Day Long (1-0, NR) - Adrian Peterson did me dirty after carrying me to back to back regular season titles. Mike Bell is also proving to be a short term fix.

2. TalentedMr.Gnomo (1-0, NR) - The other monster fantasy performance, Drew Brees was the only true standout for BG this week. Still looks to be a solid team going forward.

3. ObamanationWOOT (1-0, NR) - Tony Romo sans TO and Greg Jennings carried Chadwick to victory. Not much else from the rest of his team, but sometimes you just need to grind out a victory.

4. theTOshow (1-0, NR) - Reggie Wayne looks to be a top performer for the next several weeks while Anthony Gonzo recovers from his knee injury. Hopefully Santana shows up a bit more next week.

5. The Blaugrana (1-0, NR) - The lowest scorer of the winners, J Mo rides Darren Sproles on MNF to victory. Not a convincing victory by any means, but I'd be glad to switch spots with him.

6. The New Yorker (0-1, NR) - The biggest loser, Alan would've beat Jamie or J Mo. Pretty steady production across the board, which is what you're looking for.

7. Creative Name (0-1, NR) - Despite getting no shows from Berrian and Gonzalez, Shaun still was within a whisker of getting a win this week. He'll need Breaston or Austin to step up for the next several weeks.

8. ERock (0-1, NR) - Eric didn't get a standout performance from anyone this week, and nearly got a goose egg from Greg Olsen. Don't expect that to happen again - I had Olsen as the #6 TE, so I think he'll get back on track soon.

9. Ruining Football (0-1, NR) - Wank performances from most of my top players (Forte, Jacobs, S. Smith), and an injury to McNabb mean I have my work cut out for me. Hopefully Joe Flacco can keep up his strong start until McNabb gets back.

10. Child Plz (0-1, NR) - The most promising thing for Chris' team is his pickup of Carnell Williams - he's put together a nice stable of RBs, and I would think they'd be better than they were this past week.

That'll do it for this week's Power Rankings. How'd I do? Comment below.

5 Things I Think I Think

90285946_57141c20c6_o.jpg

1 - Jake Delhomme received a $20 million extension to his contract. But I don't think Carolina was anticipating on paying $5 million per interception. After his performance yesterday, HE should have been paying Carolina. The panthers have an offense to fear when it's clicking, but unless Jake gets his act together, they're going to be in trouble. Maybe the O line's to blame. I dunno.

2 - Drew Brees spreads the ball around like Swine Flu in Mexico City. He it 7 different receivers for 30 yards or more, and shared the wealth in the red zone as well, connecting with 5 different receivers for TDs. We'll have to see what he can do against a legitimate secondary in Philly, but I'm kind of upset I didn't draft him. Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking about a lot of draft decisions I made, but then again, what would a draft be without JMo's uninformed and second-guessing antics.

3 - How much did Stokley's catch impact the fantasy world? Apparently, enough for his ownership to increase 1%. I guess people are expecting more fluke bizzaroo psycho circus crapsmoke plays from Denver with Josh McDaniels at the helm. His new name should be "the Ring Leader." When that play happened, I couldn't help but mouth, poor Chris Elder." I'm pretty sure the commentators, after the game, said "this could only happen to the Bengals." As a ravens fan, this is the one time I'll say, I felt bad for them.

4 - Nike better have some more commercials to offer than their Adrian Peterson post-apocalyptic Lord of the Ring soundtrack football melodrama. I enjoyed the music, but I'm still waiting on this years "LT vs. Troy Palamalu" ad. Loved that one.

5 - Is Mark Sanchez the real deal? I don't know. But what I DO know, is why Pete Carroll was so upset he decided to leave early. Especially after seeing USC's true freshman Matt Barkley pull out a close one against OSU. He's got potential for the future, but if I was Carroll, I would have been pissed too.

Week 1 Preview

Good evening sports fans. With the NFL kickoff just under 24 hours away, it’s time for our first installment of the weekly preview. Each week (usually by Thursday or Friday evening) I’ll pick every game on both the Premier League and Championship League schedule. I’ll try to give some insight as to why I believe Team A will defeat Team B. That said, let’s get going.

Week 1 Premier League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
Ruining Football vs. All Day Long
This looks much closer to me than what Yahoo is predicting. The only starter of Jeff’s that I don’t like is Benson, but he’s playing against a porous Denver defense. Kellan has huge upside with Warner, Megatron, Roddy White, and ADP. I think that Jeff squeaks it out by a Gostkowski extra point, validating his 13th round selection. Ruining Football by 1

TalentedMr.Gnomo vs. YesCedricMFBensonCan
Brees against Detroit – check, Houshmandzadeh against St. Louis – check, Rice against KC – check, Minnesota Defense vs. Cleveland QB to be named eventually – check. I like my match-ups much more than I like Christopher’s this week. TMG by 15

ObamanationWOOT vs. The New Yorker
First one to 90 points wins? Romo and Tomlinson should have nice weeks, but I think that Manning and Alan’s superior receivers will do enough to get the win. I wouldn’t bet on the over. Alan by 5.

ERock vs. theTOshow
Pierre Thomas has a sprained knee and Brandon Marshall is still crazy. Aaron Rodgers, Reggie Wayne, and Michael Turner lead the way for Jamie. theTOshow by 10

Pillow Fight of the Week
The Blaugrana vs. Creative Name
Are Correll Buckhalter and Brent Celeck really in the starting lineup for Shaun at game time? Look for Jon to get the win thanks to a big number from Baltimore’s D. Blaugrana by 7.

Week 1 Championship League Fixtures:
Game of the Week
skinsrule vs. girls gone wildcat
I think that Brees vs. Peterson is a coin flip, but I think that the rest of Cameron’s roster is just a little stronger this week. wildcat by 2

BuckNastyLlamas vs. Lunatic Lunchables
Jen isn’t fielding a team right now – maybe she’s not as focused as Jeff thought she’d be now that she’s, “birthed the little bugger.” I’m guessing that a roster will show up eventually. Just for the heck of it, I’ll pick her to get past Berb. Lunchables by 5

Novices vs. Off Constantly
Mr. Hill easily has the best 3 receiver set in either league. Rodgers, Colston, and Slaton will make it close, but I like the Novices by 3.

Crazy Flying Monkeys vs. The Brunells
Erin has also neglected to set up a roster as of Wednesday night, but we’ll try to make some sense of this anyway. Scott should get nice numbers from Warner, Berrain, and Tomlinson. Erin may or may not have a team. I can’t pick two teams without any players selected can I? Brunells by 8

Pillow Fight of the Week
What’s in a Name? vs. Screamin’ Weasels
Josh’s squad looks pretty strong this week – I think that he’ll ride Rivers and Boldin to a big win. Weasels by 15

Championship League - Draft Recap

Welcome to the second and final edition of the draft recap. Tonight we'll take a look at the Championship League. I was not present at this draft, so I'll give my best objective opinion as it looks on paper.

Round 1:

1. Aaron - Adrian Peterson, RB
2. Josh - Maurice Jones-Drew, RB
3. Ryan H - Steve Slaton, RB
4. Cameron - Frank Gore, RB
5. Ryan B - Tom Brady, QB
6. Erin - Steven Jackson, RB
7. Scott - LaDanian Tomlinson, RB
8. Jen - Brian Westbrook, RB
9. Jim - Randy Moss, WR
10. Matt - Clinton Portis, RB

What I Liked: Pretty much everything - no real reaches to speak of.
What I Didn't: No sense nitpicking in Round 1.

Round 2:

11. Matt - Marion Barber, RB
12. Jim - Calvin Johnson, WR
13. Jen - Roddy White, WR
14. Scott - Ryan Grant, RB
15. Erin - Greg Jennings, WR
16. Ryan B - Willie Parker, RB
17. Cameron - Reggie Wayne, WR
18. Ryan H - Marques Colston, WR
19. Josh - Terrell Owens, WR
20. Aaron - Brandon Marshall, WR

What I Liked: Cameron snagging the last of the top end WRs before they all ran out. Coupling Wayne with Gore is a solid start to his team.
What I Didn't: I'm a bit skeptical of Marshall, especially with the way he's been acting so far. He's definitely a boom or bust pick, but I tend to go safer in the first few rounds.

Round 3:

21. Aaron - TJ Houshmandzadeh, WR
22. Josh - Reggie Bush, RB
23. Ryan H - Joseph Addai, RB
24. Cameron - Knowshon Moreno, RB
25. Ryan B - Darren McFadden, RB
26. Erin - Peyton Manning, QB (keeper)
27. Scott - Kurt Warner, QB
28. Jen - Pierre Thomas, RB
29. Jim - Larry Fitzgerald, WR (keeper)
30. Matt - Andre Johnson, WR (keeper)

What I Liked: I'm a big fan of McFadden this year - Cable has been pimping him to get 20+ carries a game, and he'll have a great chance to exceed expectations. A not-so-bold prediction: he outscores Willie Parker this season.
What I Didn't: I'm a huge Kurt Warner apologist, but the third round is a bit early for Warner in my opinion. He probably could've waited a round and gotten a better RB or WR instead.

Round 4:

31. Matt - Dwayne Bowe, WR
32. Jim - Larry Johnson, RB
33. Jen - Braylon Edwards, WR
34. Scott - Bernard Berrian, WR
35. Erin - Ray Rice, RB
36. Ryan B - Tony Gonzalez, TE
37. Cameron - Drew Brees, QB (keeper)
38. Ryan H - Marshawn Lynch, RB
39. Josh - Anquan Boldin, WR (keeper)
40. Aaron - Brandon Jacobs, RB (keeper)

What I Liked: I know Ryan Hossick doesn't want to be in this league next year, but if he doesn't move up, Lynch will be a solid keeper.
What I Didn't: I love Dwayne Bowe's talent, but I'm not such a fan of his situation. Maybe Haley is out there trying to push Bowe to be better, but you never want your WR2 in the doghouse just a week before the season. Consider him Brandon Marshall lite.

Round 5:

41. Aaron - Tony Romo, QB (keeper)
42. Josh - Chris Wells, RB
43. Ryan H - Thomas Jones, RB
44. Cameron - Antonio Gates, TE
45. Ryan B - Baltimore, DEF
46. Erin - Vincent Jackson, WR
47. Scott - DeSean Jackson, WR
48. Jen - Eddie Royal, WR
49. Jim - Michael Turner, RB (keeper)
50. Matt - Derrick Ward, RB

What I Liked: I think Vincent Jackson is an up and coming WR, and this is the perfect spot to take him. Well done Erin.
What I Didn't: I love Baltimore, and had them as my #1 defense, but Ryan probably could've waited two or three rounds and still gotten the top D.

Round 6:

51. Matt - Hines Ward, RB
52. Jim - Jason Witten, TE
53. Jen - Joe Flacco, QB
54. Scott - Dallas Clark, TE (keeper)
55. Erin - Jerricho Cotchery, WR
56. Ryan B - Wes Welker, WR (keeper)
57. Cameron - Jonathan Stewart, RB
58. Ryan H - Roy Williams, WR
59. Josh - Chad Ochocinco, WR
60. Aaron - Antonio Bryant, WR

What I Liked: Love getting the #1 TE more than a round after the first two go off the board. Great value.
What I Didn't: I love Joe Flacco, but as a real QB, not in fantasy. Could've waited until Round 12 or so - one of the bigger reaches of the afternoon.

Round 7:

61. Aaron - Chris Cooley, TE
62. Josh - Philip Rivers, QB
63. Ryan H - Greg Olsen, TE
64. Cameron - Santonio Holmes, WR
65. Ryan B - Leon Washington, RB
66. Erin - Santana Moss, WR
67. Scott - Kevin Walter, WR
68. Jen - Lee Evans, WR
69. Jim - Matt Ryan, QB
70. Matt - Derrick Mason, WR

What I Liked: Round 7 is when I want to start looking at QBs, and Rivers is as good value as anyone, especially looking at the picks going around him.
What I Didn't: Santana Moss is someone who will make you crazy all season - he will single handedly win you at least one game, while disappearing for long stretches. Not someone I'd want as a borderline starter personally. You just never know when he'll go off.

Round 8:

71. Matt - Derrick Mason, WR
72. Jim - Donald Driver, WR
73. Jen - Matt Forte, RB (keeper)
74. Scott - Matt Schaub, QB
75. Erin - Torry Holt, WR
76. Ryan B - Justin Gage, WR
77. Cameron - Donnie Avery, WR
78. Ryan H - Steve Smith, WR (Car) (keeper)
79. Josh - Visanthe Shiancoe, TE
80. Aaron - Cedric Benson, RB

What I Liked: I seem to be landing Cedric Benson on all of my teams for whatever reason, but getting a starting RB who will probably get roughly 20 carries a game at the end of the 8th round is fantastic drafting.
What I Didn't: As much as I like the Rivers pick for the value, I dislike picking Shiancoe for the same reason. He's a better pick in the 12th and later, not the 8th.

Round 9:

81. Aaron - Pittsburgh, DEF
82. Josh - Julius Jones, RB
83. Ryan H - Steve Smith, WR (NYG)
84. Matt (via Cameron) - Donovan McNabb, QB
85. Ryan B - Ahmad Bradshaw, RB
86. Erin - Ronnie Brown, RB (keeper)
87. Scott - Minnesota, DEF
88. Jen - Carson Palmer, QB
89. Jen (via Jim) - Lance Moore, WR
90. Matt - Kevin Smith, RB (keeper)

What I Liked: Jen's QB pick is what she should've been doing all along - he'll probably start over Flacco most weeks, and he came 3 rounds later.
What I Didn't: I literally just picked the NYG Steve Smith in another league - in the 13th round of a 12 team league. Nice player for the end of your bench, but in the 9th round you're drafting borderline starters.

Round 10, 11, and 12:

91. Matt - Kellen Winslow, TE
92. Jim - Ben Roethlisberger, QB
93. Jen - DeAngelo Williams, RB (keeper)
94. Scott - Chris Johnson, RB (keeper)
95. Erin - NY Giants, DEF
96. Ryan B - Patrick Crayton, WR
97. Cameron - Jamal Lewis, RB
98. Ryan H - LeSean McCoy, RB
99. Josh - Chicago, DEF
100. Aaron - Fred Taylor, RB

101. Aaron - Laveranues Coles, WR
102. Josh - Ted Ginn, WR
103. Ryan H - Tennessee, DEF
104. Cameron - Felix Jones, RB (keeper)
105. Ryan B - Chris Chambers, WR (keeper)
106. Erin - Kevin Boss, TE
107. Scott - Domenik Hixon, WR
108. Jen - Donald Brown, RB
109. Jim - James Davis, RB
110. Cameron (via Matt) - San Diego, DEF

111. Matt - Fred Jackson, RB
112. Jim - Devin Hester, WR
113. Jim (via Jen) - Philadelphia, DEF
114. Scott - Tim Hightower, RB
115. Erin - Darren Sproles, RB
116. Ryan B - Isaac Bruce, WR
117. Cameron - Matt Cassel, QB
118. Ryan H - Jay Cutler, QB
119. Josh - Matt Hasselbeck, QB
120. Aaron - Steve Breaston, WR

What I Liked: You have to love getting a starting RB this late, which is just what Matt did with Fred Jackson, even if it's only for 3 weeks. If he comes out and impresses, and Lynch falters when he comes back from suspension, who knows what will happen. It's the same story with Scott - I think Hightower gets more touches than anyone realizes, and Chris Wells (of 5th round fame) is an injury prone guy.
What I Didn't: Drew Brees is going to start for your team every week barring injury, so I personally would've stocked up on high upside RBs and WRs instead of drafting a backup QB. Find whoever is playing Denver, Detroit, etc. in Week 5, and draft that guy. Same story for Jim - you probably could've waited on a backup QB, and unfortunately it cost you the opportunity to draft Donald Brown, who will almost definitely be a keeper that late next year. The good news is you got James Davis, who will probably be starting in Cleveland by season's end, as the consolation prize.

Rounds 13-16:

121. Aaron - Eli Manning, QB
122. Josh - Earnest Graham, RB
123. Ryan H - Percy Harvin, WR
124. Cameron - Chris Henry, WR
125. Ryan B - David Garrard, QB
126. Erin - Josh Morgan, WR
127. Scott - Laurence Maroney, RB
128. Jen - Rashard Mendenhall, RB
129. Jim - Joey Galloway, WR
130. Matt - NY Jets, DEF

131. Matt - Muhsin Muhammad, WR
132. Jim - Ricky Williams, RB
133. Jen - Miles Austin, WR
134. Scott - Peyton Hillis, RB
135. Erin - Chester Taylor, RB
136. Ryan B - Anthony Fasano, TE
137. Cameron - Willis McGahee, RB
138. Ryan H - Aaron Rodgers, QB (keeper)
139. Josh - Owen Daniels, TE
140. Aaron - Jerious Norwood, RB

141. Aaron - David Akers, K
142. Josh - Stephen Gostkowski, K
143. Ryan H - Mason Crosby, K
144. Cameron - Deion Branch, WR
145. Ryan B - Matt Prater, K
146. Erin - Ryan Longwell, K
147. Scott - Nate Burleson, WR
148. Jen - Zach Miller, TE
149. Jim - Nate Kaeding, K
150. Matt - John Carney, K

151. Matt - Kevin Curtis, WR
152. Jim - Le'Ron McClain, RB
153. Jen - Nick Folk, K
154. Scott - Neil Rackers, K
155. Erin - Sammy Morris, RB
156. Ryan B - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR
157. Cameron - Michael Bush, RB
158. Ryan H - Carnell Williams, RB
159. Josh - Anthony Gonzalez, WR (keeper)
160. Aaron - Bobby Engram, WR

Premier League - Draft Recap

Welcome to the first edition of the draft recap - a round by round analysis of the draft. I'll comment on something I liked, something I didn't, and the logic behind my picks.

Round 1:
1. Kellan - Adrian Peterson, RB
2. Jamie - Michael Turner, RB
3. Chad - LaDanian Tomlinson, RB
4. Shaun - Maurice Jones-Drew, RB
5. Eric - DeAngelo Williams, RB
6. Chris - Steven Jackson, RB
7. Bryan - Frank Gore, RB
8. Alan - Larry Fitzgerald, WR
9. Jon - Clinton Portis, RB
10. Jeff - Brandon Jacobs, RB

What I Liked: Pretty much everything - no obvious reaches to be had here.
What I Didn't: Nothing - no one screwed up their first pick as far as I can tell.
My Pick: I was targeting Jacobs here, and was worried that Jon would get him in front of me. If he had taken Jacobs, I would've taken Portis, so it's not like his pick was a reach.

Round 2:
11. Jeff - Randy Moss, WR
12. Jon - Brian Westbrook, RB
13. Alan - Andre Johnson, WR
14. Jeff (via Bryan) - Steve Smith, WR (CAR)
15. Chris - Ryan Grant, RB
16. Eric - Pierre Thomas, RB
17. Shaun - Tom Brady, QB
18. Chad - Greg Jennings, WR
19. Jamie - Marion Barber, RB
20. Kellan - Darren McFadden, RB

What I Liked: Chad taking Greg Jennings - get that top 9 WR when the RB talent starts to thin out
What I Didn't: Again, no major reaches - most people have the same list for the first 25 players or so
My Picks: I was ecstatic being able to land 2 top 5 WRs in Round 2. It cost me Drew Brees, but it was worth it to me. Alan snagged Andre Johnson right in front of me, but I'm happy with Steve Smith.

Round 3:
21. Kellan - Calvin Johnson, WR (keeper)
22. Jamie - Reggie Wayne, WR
23. Chad - Marques Colston, WR
24. Shaun - Thomas Jones, RB
25. Eric - Dwayne Bowe, WR
26. Chris - Terrell Owens, WR
27. Bryan - TJ Houshmandzadeh, WR
28. Alan - Peyton Manning, QB
29. Jon - Wes Welker, WR
30. Bryan (via Jeff) - Drew Brees, QB (keeper)

What I Liked: Jamie grabbing the last of the top 9 WRs at pick 22.
What I Didn't: Dwayne Bowe as WR11 makes me a little nervous - he has all the talent, but his situation isn't ideal, as he'll be double teamed as soon as he gets off the bus.
My Pick: None this round

Round 4:

31. Jeff - Marshawn Lynch, RB
32. Jon - Roy Williams, WR
33. Alan - Ronnie Brown, RB
34. Bryan - Anquan Boldin, WR (keeper)
35. Chris - Chad Ochocinco, WR
36. Eric - Kevin Smith, RB (keeper)
37. Shaun - Knowshon Moreno, RB
38. Chad - Jonathan Stewart, RB (keeper)
39. Jamie - Antonio Gates, TE
40. Kellan - Larry Johnson, RB

What I Liked: I think Ochocinco is the WR most likely to crack the top 10 from those who weren't drafted that way.
What I Didn't: J Mo called this pick in via cell phone, and nearly blew his arm out reaching for Roy Williams. He's shaking off an injury, and underwhelmed last year. Probably could've been had two rounds later.
My Pick: Marshawn Lynch is more a pick for next year, since he's suspended the first 3 games. He was a 1st round pick last year, so I'm hoping he will get back to form. Ronnie Brown was my other option.

Round 5:

41. Kellan - Roddy White, WR (keeper)
42. Jamie - Willie Parker, RB
43. Bryan (via Chad) - Ray Rice, RB
44. Shaun - Bernard Berrian, WR
45. Eric - Brandon Marshall, WR
46. Chris - Donald Brown, RB
47. Chris (via Bryan) - Chris Wells, RB
48. Alan - Derrick Ward, RB
49. Jon - Eddie Royal, WR
50. Jeff - Matt Forte, RB (keeper)

What I Liked: Ray Rice might've been a bit of a reach, but I'm officially reaching man crush status with him. Good things just seem to happen when he gets the ball.
What I Didn't: Derrick Ward may be the starter, but Raheem Morris recently said he expects Ward to get roughly 40% of the carries - not what you want in a RB2.
My Pick: Keeping Matt Forte in the 5th was lucky last year - he was pretty much my last pick of the rookie RBs last year.

Round 6:
51. Jeff - Braylon Edwards, WR
52. Jeff (via Jon) - Joseph Addai, RB
53. Alan - LenDale White, RB
54. Bryan - Jason Witten, TE
55. Chris - Lee Evans, WR
56. Eric - Reggie Bush, RB
57. Shaun - Antonio Bryant, WR
58. Chad - Jamal Lewis, RB
59. Jamie - Santana Moss, WR
60. Bryan (via Jeff from Kellan) - Kevin Walter, WR

What I Liked: I personally think Reggie Bush is getting seriously undervalued in drafts. I know his knees are questionable, but if all things are equal I think Bush scores more fantasy points this year. Pairing the two means that if one gets hurt, Eric is still set.
What I Didn't: Pairing two WRs from the same team seems like a good idea when it's New England or Arizona, but Buffalo? Chris was at a distinct disadvantage drafting from a lab in Drexel's med school, but this has brainfart written all over it.
My Picks: I went safer here, taking Braylon Edwards with my WR3, who I think will be solid, and Addai as my RB4. I would've liked to take more of a chance instead of Addai, but with Lynch out 3 weeks, I needed to land a player who would definitely get carries early in the season.

Round 7:

61. Kellan - Matt Ryan, QB
62. Jamie - Santonio Holmes, WR
63. Chad - Torry Holt, WR
64. Shaun - Felix Jones, RB
65. Eric - Lance Moore, WR
66. Chris - Carson Palmer, QB
67. Jeff (via Bryan) - Donnie Avery, WR
68. Alan - LeSean McCoy, RB
69. Jon - Ahmad Bradshaw, RB
70. Jeff - Cedric Benson, RB

What I Liked: My mancrush on Felix Jones isn't as strong as it is on Ray Rice, but the upside in Round 7 is great. Not many RBs available that can put up big numbers like Jones can every time he touches the ball.
What I Didn't: A bit nitpicky, but I think Kellan could've waited until the turn at Rounds 8 and 9 to get Matt Ryan, with as deep as QB is this year.
My Picks: Avery was an upside play at WR, and once again Alan took my pick before I could get him in McCoy. In hindsight I should've gone McCoy, then Avery, instead of Avery then Benson.

Round 8:

71. Jon (via Jeff) - Tony Gonzalez, TE
72. Jon - Darren Sproles, RB
73. Alan - Hines Ward, WR
74. Bryan - Julius Jones, RB
75. Chris - Dallas Clark, TE
76. Eric - Greg Olsen, TE
77. Shaun - Anthony Gonzalez, WR (keeper)
78. Chad - Tony Romo, QB
79. Jamie - Donald Driver, WR
80. Kellan - Chris Cooley, TE

What I Liked: Tony Gonzalez is a top 3 TE, and getting him 3 and a half rounds after Gates is fantastic value.
What I Didn't: I can't find a reason to get excited about Julius Jones - he smokes cigarettes, he hasn't been relevant since I was in college, Seattle just signed Edge to compete with him. Reasonable value, but I would cringe every time I put him in the lineup and hit submit. Kinda like I will when I start Cedric Benson.
My Picks: None this round

Rounds 9 and 10:
81. Kellan - Devin Hester, WR
82. Jamie - Tim Hightower, RB
83. Chad - Shonn Greene, RB
84. Shaun - Steve Breaston, WR
85. Eric - Ted Ginn, WR
86. Chris - Chris Johnson, RB (keeper)
87. Chris (via Bryan) - Jerricho Cotchery, WR
88. Alan - Laveranues Coles, WR
89. Jon - Baltimore, DEF
90. Chris (via Jeff) - DeSean Jackson, WR (keeper)

91. Jeff - Chris Henry, WR
92. Jon - Jay Cutler, QB (keeper)
93. Alan - Eli Manning, QB (keeper)
94. Bryan - Percy Harvin, WR
95. Chris - Ricky Williams, RB
96. Eric - Derrick Mason, WR
97. Shaun - Rashard Mendenhall, RB
98. Chad - Michael Crabtree, WR
99. Jamie - Earl Bennett, WR
100. Kellan - Kurt Warner, QB

What I Liked: Kellan landing the 4th QB on my board at 100 overall is a crime. Great QB to pair with Matt Ryan.
What I Didn't: I'd be willing to get that Chad could've taken Warner in Round 10, then waited on Crabtree until Round 11, giving him a better QB and a later keeper in Crabtree.
My Pick: Chris Henry is a pick for next year - he'll be a free agent, and he'd be a WR2 on most teams. If he can use his great size to his advantage and stay out of trouble, he could be a top 20-30 WR next season.

Rounds 11 and 12:
101. Kellan - Josh Morgan, WR
102. Jamie - Aaron Rodgers, QB (keeper)
103. Chad - Matt Schaub, QB
104. Shaun - Correll Buckhalter, RB
105. Eric - Patrick Crayton, WR
106. Chris - Pittsburgh, DEF
107. Bryan - Leon Washington, RB
108. Alan - Fred Jackson, RB
109. Jon - Domenik Hixon, WR
110. Jeff - Donovan McNabb, QB

111. Kellan (via Jeff) - Earnest Graham, RB
112. Jon - Chester Taylor, RB
113. Alan - NY Giants, DEF
114. Bryan - Nate Washington, WR
115. Bryan (via Chris) - Minnesota, DEF
116. Eric - Philip Rivers, QB (keeper)
117. Shaun - Brett Favre, QB (keeper)
118. Chad - Michael Bush, RB
119. Jamie - Chris Chambers, WR
120. Kellan - Le'Ron McClain, RB

What I Liked: Alan has been getting my praise all article long thanks to stealing my players from under my nose all afternoon, but you have to like it when you can land a starter in Round 11, even if it's just for a few weeks while other rushing situations settle themselves out.
What I Didn't: I don't see Chris Chambers contributing anything of value this season - he'll cede playing time to up and comer Malcolm Floyd. Even if he continues to be the WR2 in San Diego, it means he's the 4th option behind Jackson, Gates, and Tomlinson. I also have a hard time thinking Favre was worth keeping with a 12th round pick. I'm not sure he would've been drafted otherwise. It may have been worth it just to toss him back into the draft pool and see what happened.
My Pick: Donovan McNabb was the best QB left on my board - I was hoping to land Schaub, who as we speak is limping around the sideline during the MNF preseason game.

Rounds 13-16:

121. Kellan - Jeremy Maclin, WR
122. Jamie - Jamaal Charles, RB
123. Chad - Visanthe Shiancoe, TE
124. Shaun - Miles Austin, WR
125. Eric - James Davis, RB
126. Chris - Matt Hasselbeck, QB

133. Alan - Sidney Rice, WR
134. Bryan - Fred Taylor, RB
135. Jeff (via Chris) - Bernard Scott, RB
136. Eric - NY Jets, DEF
137. Shaun - Brent Celek, TE
138. Chad - Tennessee, DEF
139. Jamie - Sammy Morris, RB (keeper)
140. Kellan - New England, DEF

Championship League Roll Call

Our Championship League recently expanded from 8 to 10 teams - meet all 10 managers below:

Erin O'Brien (Crazy Flying Monkeys) - Erin is one of two females in our league, and is one confused football fan. She can't decide whether she likes the Ravens or Giants. She may be silly, but she's ours, and we root for her - when we're not rooting for another team.

Josh Conner (Screamin' Weasels) - Josh is the manager with the most children (4!) and hosted our draft last year. He had a rough go of it last year, but has high hopes for this year.

Matt Berbert (BuckNastyLlamas) - Berb is the only manager to join the league, leave the league, then come crawling back the following year. He enjoys full length documentaries, hat tricks, and surf ninjas. He'll write one of our weekly articles this season.

Jen Smithson (Lunatic Lunchables) - Jen is the second of our two ladies. She was relegated last year, a result of being distracted by her pregnancy. Now that she's birthed the little bugger, she'll be more focused and ready for the season.

Jim Hill (Novices) - Jim is the second manager who was a member of the Premier League last year. He went from the playoffs two years ago to relegation last year, thanks to Bernard Pollard and his season ending hit on Tom Brady. We'll see if his luck is any better this year.

Ryan Hossick (Off Constantly) - Ryan is one of the younger managers we have in either league. Don't be fooled by his youth, this Hokie is an experienced fantasy football player, and one to watch this season.

Cameron Butcher (girls gone wildcat) - The winner of the award for cleverest team name, this Dolphins fan will hopefully be one of our regular contributors on this blog. He snuck into the playoffs last year, and I'm sure he hopes to do the same this year.

Aaron Moore (skinsrule) - Aaron is one of the brand new managers to our league this year. A multitalented individual (and obvious skins fan), he's looking to make an impact on our league in year one.

Scott Moran (The Brunells) - Scotty is the youngest member of our leagues, a strapping junior in college at Grove City. He'll spend all season in Spain, where he may be at a disadvantage as the only football on his television will be Sevilla matches.

Ryan Bulger (What's in a name?) - Ryan is our second of the two brand new managers who took part in our expansion draft. He's played in a few leagues before, so we fully expect him to fit right in. A former semi-pro skateboarder, Ryan is one of several managers who spend last winter in New Orleans.

That about wraps it up for our Championship League Roll Call. We may or may not have more posts before the draft, but our next series will be a Draft Recap, followed by Draft Grades for both leagues. Bookmark this site to follow the action all season.

Premier League Roll Call

Our Premier League consists of 10 teams - meet them below:

Shaun Smithson (Help!) - Shaun is our resident pastor (every fantasy league needs one) - he has 3 young children, 2 crazy dogs, and 1 fun wife who is in our Championship League.

Bryan Grose (StraightCashGnomies) - Bryan has been playing fantasy football longer than most, and is the only manager in our league from West Virginia. Recently engaged, he has been in the playoffs the past two years.

Kellan Dickens (Owning The Bills) - Kellan is one of two of the new teams in our league this year. Kellan takes over the Novices after sweeping the silverware in last year's Championship League.

Alan Krill (The New Yorker) - Alan made the playoffs for the first time last year. A world traveler, Alan is moving to New York in just a few short weeks to start grad school, and will be drafting via Skype, a first for our league.

Chris Elder (Bodymore Murdaland) - Chris is my brother-in-law, and another fantasy football veteran. He recently started med school, and a is a rabid Bengals fan. His sister is critiquing my English as I write this.

Jon Moynihan (The Blaugrana) - J Mo won the Premier League championship last year, and looks to do the same this year. He is moving to Orlando this week to work for Cru, and is a huge Spanish footy fan.

Chad Brown (ObamanationWOOT) - The guy who got me into my first fantasy football league, Chad is a Salisburian and a huge Tar Heel fan. He recently started a new job in consulting.

Eric Grabau (ERock) - Eric was a fantasy football rookie just two years ago, and went from the bottom of the league to the middle of the pack last year. Recently he married the lovely Lauren Barkley (now Grabau).

Jamie Schad (Jamie) - Jamie is the 2nd team to join us this season, finishing 2nd in the Championship League. Jamie was married just two days ago to the equally lovely Heather Overall (now Schad).

Jeff Hill (Ruining Football) - This is the third year we've had the league in this format, and it's continued to grow. I'm the commissioner, work for a defense contractor, and am married to the loveliest Meghan Hill.

That's our Premier League - tomorrow I'll preview our Championship League

Welcome!

Welcome to Afternoon Sack, a new blog dedicated to our fantasy football league, and the NFL in general. There will be more information to come as I learn how to operate this website.
